CHAPTER 1
WE DARE TO GO WHERE THE VA HAS FAILED

The federal government excludes many veterans who suffer mental health issues from VA benefits under a complex and opaque system. This results in many veterans- struggling with depression, sporadic employment and homelessness.
Broken promises leave veterans and their families feeling desperate for care and a sustainable life. Some veterans face years of appeal time to discover denial in the end due to claimed lack of evidence for their service connected mental health issues and invisible wounds.
Chapter 1 was designed by the Academy of United States Veterans to provide the proper resources available for re-evaluation of medical records by private provides to ensure accuracy of diagnosis and service related symptoms that often lead to suicide, homelessness and unemployment.
Veterans who have been facing hardship due to service connected mental health disabilities and rejected VA benefits can submit their case and request benefits from the Academy of United States Veterans. They must demonstrate financial hardship and provide reasoning behind why they are unable to afford out of pocket costs for private doctor visits.
